My short film: The Skipping Rhyme

Here is the rough cut version of the much awaited short- film that I made during my film making and script writing course in Bangalore conducted by Manjushree Abhinav.

The film has gone through a journey of lots of trials and tribulations- torn pages, scratched out stories, aimless beginnings, attempt at comedy, tragedy, suspense, and not to forget- Bollywood masala, lot of working and re-working, burning the midnight oil and talking about life and experiences, introspection, philosophical conversations, tweaks and touches to the story, hearings in class, change of dialogues, last minute production, white poster colour for our actor's hair, recording sounds by hiding inside the car, scribbling on the wall, the entire team, lots of chai and lots of tears on the sets too :)...moments which actually make the film real. These are things I will remember the movie for.

This film is a story about an old man, who seeks answers from life in many things, and finally gets an answer from a small child. This film is very close to me, not only because it is my first film but also because its about something that I have discovered during my own internal quest.

Request you to connect your speakers, as the sound on this file is low. I will be uploading the final cut version soon. Please don't forget to leave your comments and suggestions and let me know what you thought about the story.

Hey! I can read and write!!

Finally came across a board which made me feel literate. Living in Karnataka, I'm have a hard time reading sign boards in Kannada. This one was a welcome relief!

Vada Pav mania

Went ballistic after the vada pav we had on the way to Pune. Its like finding water in a desert here in Kannada-land, where idli dosa is life! mmm...vada pavv :) :)

Basanti, tumhara naam kya hai?

Dear Blue Dart,  why does my name have a question mark?

Ice creammm, sodaaa, chipssssss, tringg trinnnggg trinnngggg

A 'snack shop' on a coracle in the middle of the water. We Indians cannot live without food even for a minute! I found this sight quite amusing and it made me smile. Unfortunately, this is the best I could click with the camera on my phone.

Crabbies

Kids playing and hunting for crabs with their friends at Hoeganakkal Falls!

Who says that spas are only for humans?

Saw the elephants bathe at the Dubbare Elephant Camp while we were returning from a weekend holiday in Coorg. Was such a beautiful sight to see the elephants relax and enjoy the scrub, as if they had signed up for a spa treat. The mahut (the elephant's personal caretaker) was giving him a proper bath with an actual scrub that we use to brush clothes and was instructing the elephant to roll on to the other side, which he would obediently follow. Occassionally, the elephant would snort and move his trunk about, splashing water on the trigger happy people who surrounded him, trying to take a picture of their loved ones with the elephant. The tourists would all go 'Whooooooo' and run 10 paces back, only to return to watch the show. Seeing the elephants enjoy themselves put a smile on my face :)
